WHO WE ARE
This website belongs to Tembo Steels (U) Limited, Plot No. 13 B, Mabua Road, Kololo, P.O. Box 26373, Kampala, Uganda. For anything about your personal data, write to info@tembosteels.co.ug.
WHAT THIS WEBSITE COLLECTS
- Forms. The quote, quality, plant visit, careers, supplier and dealer forms put your details into a message in your own email app or WhatsApp, and you decide whether to send it. When you press send, a copy of the same details is also kept by our website host, Netlify, so that your request is not lost. Only Tembo staff can see it.
- The chat assistant. Your conversation is not saved. When you send an order, a quote or a question to WhatsApp from the chat, a copy of that message is kept in the same way as a form. The assistant only remembers, for the current visit, that you closed its greeting.
- Is this really Tembo? The number, email or website you type is checked inside your own browser and is not sent anywhere. Staff numbers are kept on this website only as one-way fingerprints, so the list cannot be read from it.
- Your settings. Your choice of language and colour settings is saved in your own browser, so the site remembers it next time. You can clear it by clearing your browser’s site data.
- Visitor statistics. We count visits with Google Analytics: the pages viewed, the country and the type of device. Google Analytics sets cookies for this. We use the figures only to improve the site.
WHAT YOU SEND US
When you email us or message us on WhatsApp, your message reaches our sales, human resources or procurement team. We use it only to answer you, to handle your order or quote, or to consider your job application or supplier registration.
We keep it only as long as we need it for that purpose, or as long as the law requires. We do not sell your details to anyone.
OTHER SERVICES THE SITE USES
- The typefaces are served from this website. The 3D scenes use a library loaded from cdnjs (Cloudflare), with a copy on this website if cdnjs cannot be reached.
- The Facebook and Instagram posts in the Newsroom load from Facebook and Instagram only if you tap to show them.
- To show rain when it is raining at our Lugazi works, your browser asks the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) for the Lugazi weather, at most once every 15 minutes. Nothing about you is sent with the request.
- If you speak to the chat assistant, your browser’s own speech service (for example Google in Chrome, or Apple in Safari) turns your voice into text. This website does not record or keep your voice.
- WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X and YouTube links open those services, under their own privacy policies.
YOUR RIGHTS
Under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and object to the way we use it. Write to info@tembosteels.co.ug and we will reply.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Office at pdpo.go.ug.
